The angiogram is a test made by dyes, used to detect heart problems. Building an effective
barrier to interaction of ionizing radiation present in rooms where angiograms occur requires
consideration of many variables, including: number of patients per week, Occupancy factor,
Dose Limit , distance between the source and the barrier and secondary air Kerma. The
computer code built from this data has the objective to identify and use variables in functions
obtained by nonlinear regression graphics offered by the NCRP Report-147 (Structural
Shielding Design for Medical X-Ray Imaging Facilities) for the calculation of shielding of the
room's walls. After this, is done one program validation by comparing results with a base case
provided by this report. The thickness of the obtained values comprises various materials, such
as: lead glass, dry wall, steel, wood and concrete. After validation, is made an application in a
simulated case. Its visual construction was done with the help of software used in modeling of
indoor and outdoor. The construction of the computational code for barriers rests on the need to
possess a tool capable to calculate the thickness of barriers in angiography rooms according
the dose limits established by CNEN-NN-3:01 published in September 2011.
