CALCULATION TECHNIQUE FOR THE PRIMARY SHIELDING AGAINST
X-RAY OF MEGAVOLTAGE

it is necessary to evaluate the efficiency of thickness of the materials used for the shielding of
the rooms containing these devices. This work was prepared so as to consider theoretical
methods for determination of shielding against ionizing radiation and attenuation factors for the
development of an algorithm capable of providing data, in a practical way, of the thickness of
materials that can be used for effective shielding of primary beams stemmed of this equipment.
The use of the computer language C ++ allowed the development of a practical tool for
determining the thickness of the materials required to protect the public and Occupationally
Exposed Individuals (IOEs) against beam of higher power. The creation of this algorithm
required the use of traditional factors used to shield medical facilities, such as: Use Factor,
Workload, Occupancy Factor, attenuation coefficients, among others. Furthermore, in this paper
is made an analysis with the technique of Radiotherapy intensity modulated (IMRT).
